Why We Play the Daily Grind and the Bounty Blitz on WePlay

Both tournaments have a guarantee, re-entry while late registration is open, and no add-on. Here is why they are the ones we play, and what else on WePlay is worth your time, the Rebuy Rush included.

The tournaments on WePlay are in good shape right now. The two we keep coming back to are the Daily Grind and the Bounty Blitz. Both have a guarantee, and neither one has an add-on.

Re-entry, but no add-on

Late registration stays open for well over an hour. If you bust in that time, you can re-enter and get a new chance. That is fair play, and we like it. There are no rebuys and no add-ons, so when late registration closes, everyone plays on with the stack they have.

In tournaments with a big add-on, you can grind for an hour or two and then see an add-on hand out 100 big blinds to anyone who pays for it. That mostly helps the players with the biggest bankrolls. WePlay's regular tournaments now run without that.

Satellites keep their add-ons

The satellites, like Win Your $11 Ticket, still have add-ons, and for a satellite that is fine.

The ones worth your time

  • ▸The Daily Grind costs $16.50 and has a $500 guarantee.
  • ▸The Bounty Blitz costs $22, has a $600 guarantee and puts a $5 bounty on every player.
  • ▸The Sunday Showdown is the big one of the week, and it costs $55 with a $9,868 guarantee.
  • ▸The Rebuy Rush comes in two sizes: $1.10 with a $75 guarantee and $2.20 with a $150 guarantee.

Our rule is simple: every tournament with a guaranteed prize pool is worth your time. The lobby shows every start time in your own time zone.

The Rebuy Rush

The Rebuy Rush is the one place where rebuys and an add-on are part of the game, and here that is fine. You start with 10,000 chips. For the first hour you can rebuy as often as you like, 10,000 chips for $1 in the small one and $2 in the big one, and when the rebuy period ends you can take one add-on of 60,000 chips for the same $1 or $2. Late registration is open for that first hour as well. The levels are four minutes, the tables seat seven, and there is a break at 55 minutes past every hour.

Everyone knows that going in, the money involved is small, and the guarantee is there whether the field is big or not. So the add-on does not hand the deepest bankrolls an edge the way it does in a regular tournament, and we play these too.

Small buy-ins: play the Spins

We skip the small tournaments that have no guarantee, and we find them a bit boring. The Rebuy Rush is the exception, because it has one. You can still play the others, or the Sit & Gos, if you like that kind of game. If you like small buy-ins without a tournament, our tip is the Spins. There are only three players, the games are quick, and you have a shot at the jackpot. You can play 20 or 50 of them in a session without any problem. That is just our opinion.

The players

The cash games are fun, even at small stakes. When we played NL20, the table was full of action and the game had a good flow. Many of the players are from Europe, they have money to play with, and a lot of them play loose and like to gamble. There are plenty of aggressive Norwegians among them. The player pool is still small, but it is growing, because the whole experience is good and keeps getting better.

The small pool also means the guarantees are bigger than what the entries pay in right now, so WePlay adds the difference. That overlay is extra prize money for the players who show up. We think WePlay is a place worth checking out.
